Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ:FNSR)

Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ:FNSR) jumped up by 3.32% and closed at $12.46 on Friday. Upside volume has been good lately and the stock is setting up nicely to break out. Buy point would be on the day it blows through $12.54 on heavy volume, which could happen next week. The indicators are looking Bullish. The MACD is above signal line and above 0 line, which is a bullish indicator. Additionally to that, we also have the price currently above all short-term EMAs. FNSR will move very quickly, so watch the stock closely on Monday.

I don't know if it's just getting older, but Thanksgiving/Christmas do a better job of sneaking up on me every year. I've barely stopped to look ahead at holiday schedules.
But holidays are one-off events. The stock market/economy are a continuum, and so I am always looking at current events and attempting to get a feel for how they will play out over the months and years ahead.
As I've said repeatedly, stock market forecasts can be based on one thing and one thing only: corporate earnings. As I wrote last year:  (more)

Take a look at the 1-year chart of Franklin (NYSE: BEN) below with my added notations:
1-year chart of Franklin (NYSE: BEN)
BEN has hit the $42 mark (red) as resistance multiple times in the past month. In addition, the stock has been climbing a trend line of support (green) since mid-October. Eventually, the stock will have to break either the $42 resistance or the trendline support.

The Tale of the Tape: BEN is winding up between two key levels. A long trade could be made at the trendline support or on a break above $42. A break below trendline would be an opportunity to enter a short trade.
